Justine and Don

We had so much fun working with Justine & Don to bring their wedding day vision to life. While originally from Nova Scotia, Justine now lives in Alberta with Don, meaning that there was lots of “long-distance” planning and Skype chats preparing for their wedding day. She knew she wanted to get married in her home province near the ocean, and Oceanstone Seaside Resort provided the perfect backdrop. They kicked their wedding weekend off with a casual and fun oceanside lobster boil prepared by Justine’s parents - a treat for all of Don’s family who came from out West.

Justine and Don are very much “go with the flow” people, which I was super thankful for when I woke up to pouring rain on June 17, 2017 – their wedding day. According to the weather radar the rain wasn’t going to let up, and when it was time to make the decision whether or not to move the ceremony inside, Justine was adamant it would take place outside no matter what. With that, Don and his groomsmen headed to the nearest store to grab rubber boots and ponchos for the wedding party. Their guests huddled under umbrellas to watch the couple say “I do” but not before Justine’s adorable grandmother sprinkled the aisle with flower petals.

Justine and Don were troopers throughout the entire day, along with their wedding party and guests. They all laughed and carried on while posing for photos in the rain with Jenn Nauss of Cooked Photography, including posing with Justine’s great-uncle’s antique car that he had driven down for her as a photo prop. Before heading to the reception, Justine’s bridesmaids even blow-dried her dress!

The reception area in Oceanstone’s Great Room was decorated with floral arrangements by Sandra Barry of I Do Flowers, coral table runners that matched the bridesmaid’s dresses and white draping from Beautiful Linen Rentals, stationery by Lupin Design Studio, and handmade signs by Justine’s childhood friend. After dinner, Justine and Don danced the night away surrounded by friends and family to music played by True North DJs, and enjoyed their delicious cake and cupcakes by Pipps Bakery & Custom Cakes. It was truly a day to remember – proof that a little rain will never hurt anyone, especially on a wedding day on the coast of Nova Scotia!
