Meghan and Chad
Close to 100 friends and family gathered together in October of 2017 at the beautiful Captain’s House in Chester, Nova Scotia, to witness Meghan and Chad tie the knot. The bride and her bridesmaids got ready in the charming upstairs bedrooms, while the groom and his groomsmen got ready off-site. Meghan’s cousin, Emma Piercey, took care of the bride and bridesmaids' makeup, while Meghan’s hairdresser Bonnie Forrestal, handled the hair. Meghan’s stunning vintage-esque BHLDN gown set the tone perfectly for the day, laid-back and full of love. Her bridesmaids wore dresses in various fall colours, each unique but fitting with the fall theme. The groom and groomsmen wore suits accented by fall floral-inspired boutonnieres which, along with the bouquets, were handcrafted by the bridal party themselves.
Meghan and Chad were prepared for there to be a slight chill in the air and had blanket scarves on hand for the guests to wear during the ceremony, which also doubled as wedding favours. Guests smiled on as they witnessed a sweet ceremony led by Justice of the Peace, Lynne Weagle.
A cocktail hour took place following the ceremony in the living areas of the Captain’s House and on the deck where guests could mingle, snack on meat pies, a family favourite homemade by Meghan's aunts, and sip beverages from the bar all while watching the sun set over the Back Harbour of Chester.
The reception took place just up the road at St. Stephen’s Parish Hall. A shuttle transported guests to the hall where they enjoyed a delicious buffet courtesy of Cocoa Pesto Catering. The highlight was scrumptious pies of all different flavors made by Meghan's mom which were truly delicious.
Following the dinner and speeches, the guests were transported back to the Captain’s House where the DJ, Peter Benson of NiteLife DJ Services, welcomed guests back with party music. The tunes continued into the night and guests enjoyed the dance floor and quiet, intimate seating areas in the Captain’s House...only stopping to grab a slice of late-night pizza from Big Red’s when it arrived.
Nicole Payzant of Nicole Payzant Photography captured every detail of the day, from the bride’s shoes to the magical moments of the first dance. We feel so fortunate to have been part of Meghan and Chad’s intimate wedding celebration, and can’t wait for the next time we get to take part in a wedding at the Captain’s House in Chester.
